Dube AgriLab is a highly sophisticated and ultra-modern plant tissue culture laboratory whose research and development is informed by both client and industry needs.
Research and development undertakings by Dube AgriLab have resulted in a number of new protocols, giving effect to an expansion of product offerings to include forestry, sub-tropical fruits, vegetables, succulents, ornamentals and elite medicinal crops.

DUBE PACKHOUSE
Dube Packhouse is a dedicated post-harvest pack house and distribution centre, currently operated by Lebombo Finepak, which is an organisation is responsible for sorting, packaging and distributing a wide variety of fruits and vegetables from the farming community around South Africa for distribution to major national retailers in the region.
MARKET POTENTIAL
The agricultural sector boasts exceptional market potential for both domestic and export consumption.
There exist in KwaZulu-Natal some 6.5 million hectares of land, well-suited for farming purposes. Of this landholding, 82% is ideal for extensive livestock production, whilst 18% comprises arable land.
The sugarcane sector is one of the biggest agricultural industries in KwaZulu-Natal, comprising about 22 500 registered sugarcane growers. The industry produces an estimated average of 2.2 million tons of sugar per season.
Some 60% of sugar produced here is marketed in the Southern African Customs Union (SACU), with the balance exported to markets in other parts of Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
EXPORT
As a multi-module logistics platform connecting road, rail, sea and air infrastructure, Dube TradePort Special Economic Zone is a unique location, serving as an ideal location for the export of goods into Africa and beyond.
Dube Cargo Terminal currently has the capacity to handle 100 000 tonnes of cargo annually, expanding to 2 million tonnes by 2060, and providing for a highly efficient and effective platform for rapid and seamless access to global supply chains.
In 2019, South Africa exported US$90 billion worth of products, according to the World Trade Organisation and during 2020 – despite the debilitating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and resultant restricted air connectivity - Dube Cargo Terminal processed high-value international exports valued at R8.8 billion, growth of 49%.
With the advent of the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement, the potential now exists to access markets across 55 countries with a combined Gross Domestic Product valued at US$3.4 trillion.
