KwaZulu-Natal's manufacturing sector is the second largest in South Africa, after Gauteng.

The manufacturing sector in this province is geared to export via ocean and airfreight, with almost a third of South Africa's manufactured exports being produced in KwaZulu-Natal.

Key manufacturing industries here include the automobile and component sector, pulp and paper products, chemicals and petrochemicals and food and beverages. Both the agricultural and mining sector, inclusive of titanium dioxide, zircon along with iron, steel and ferroalloys, are also regarded as being important.
