Dube TradePort Corporation is set to prominently display its 60-year master plan for the development of Africa’s first purpose-built ‘aerotropolis’ at the 44th SAPOA International Convention and Property Exhibition at the ICC Durban at the end of May this year.
SAPOA is the South African Property Owners Association and is representative of the commercial and industrial property sector in
this country.
The Dube TradePort Corporation is planning a dynamic and interactive display at this prestigious exhibition. The entity’s presence at the convention and exhibition will enable Dube TradePort Corporation to widely share its vision of the new ‘aerotropolis,’ or airport city, taking shape north of Durban.
In addition, Dube TradePort Corporation will host internationally-acclaimed Mr John Kasarda, considered the father of the aerotropolis concept and a leading authority in the field. As the guest of Dube TradePort Corporation, he will address the SAPOA Convention and undertake a series of one-on-one information sessions as a means of introducing the concept.
An aerotropolis is regarded as a vital spatial planning tool and is a new concept to South Africa. Accordingly, Mr Kasarda will fully explain the advantages of developing an aerotropolis at Dube TradePort for the benefit of property owners and developers, property managers/brokers, property investors, bankers and other professionals.
Mr Kasarda believes that major cities of the future will be built around airports. World-wide supply chains are now becoming regarded as the global internet and comprise a series of inter-connected hubs and supply chains, all serviced by major airports.
Because Dube TradePort, together with King Shaka International Airport, is being developed as a ‘Greenfield’ site, the potential exists to put in place at Dube TradePort a true aerotropolis blueprint.
