Dube TradePort’s CSI programme has always been progressive in its efforts to drive and support initiatives that help build capacity within educational institutions around the province of KwaZulu-Natal. Education is a key pillar for the organisation’s corporate social investment portfolio and this MoU with the Durban University of Technology sets out the various areas of co-operation between the two institutions in helping its learners bridge the gap between tertiary education and the work environment.
Some of the main areas of co-operation will center on skills development, mentoring and experiential learning for both students and staff of DUT. “Providing the necessary support in terms of capacity-building and skills development within our institutions of higher learning is important as the graduates they produce are the same people who we’ll be relying on to carry the torch and actually implement the vision of our infrastructural and economic development programme,” says Mr Solomon Nkosi, Project leader CSI at Dube TradePort Corporation.
