Dube TradePort receives a green certificate

Wednesday, January 11, 2012

In championing the green cause, Dube TradePort’s (DTP) efforts have gained it acknowledgement, and a certificate from the Food & Trees for Africa Foundation.  Through DTP’s corporate social investment initiative, it has donated an amount of R60 000 which will go towards a food garden project, which is going to be rolled out at Trubel Primary School, which is a disadvantaged school,  in Tongaat, KwaZulu Natal, just north of the Dube Trade Port precinct.

The R60 000 will go towards purchasing over 2000 seedlings, tools and conducting workshops, which will teach the children how to plant and maintain their gardens for a bountiful crop. This project is intended to help with food security at the school as a considerably high number of students that attend Trubel Primary come from two informal settlements in the area. Furthermore the project aims to encourage social enterprising and skills transfer in the wider community.
